A bouffant updo is a very beautiful and unique hairstyle that was popular in the 1950s and 1960s. There are many celebrities including Amy Winehouse, Jessica Alba, Kate Beckinsale and others who like to style their hair in this manner as it can give an attractive look. This style is distinguished by its height and also the fullness at the crown of the head. The hairstyle can be mostly seen in many formal events and even weddings.
To create this style, first wash the hair and spread a generous amount of mousse or volumizing gel all over the hair when it is still wet. Then use a round brush to dry the hair by lifting it at the roots. Next separate the hair into different sections such as front and back from ear to ear to create a high ponytail. Now you must backcomb the ponytail after holding one inch strands of hair away from the head and leaving a comb down the underside from the ends to the roots to create the volume. Use a brush to smoothen the top layer of the ponytail and wrap it over the teased hair. Using bobby pins secure the tucked ends and mist the hair with a hairspray. Again separate the front hair into two and tease one section at the back of your head with a brush. At last spritz all over the hair with a hairspray and tuck the ends underneath the back of your head.
