Mermaid braids are usually worn loose on your head by using all the hair and it is sometimes worn low to one side of your head. This hairstyle is usually worn over the head just like a headband and it can be a perfect style for those who have shoulder-length hair or longer.
To create a mermaid braid, first wash your hair and comb it fully to make it smooth without any tangles. Now use your fingers to take out a section of hair on side of the head in the front from the longest layers. The size of this section usually depends on the personal preference and thickness of the hair about 1 to 1 and 1/2 inch section. Braid this part of the hair as usual and secure it using hair elastic. Use the same method on the other side of your head and now there will be two evenly-sized braids on both sides of the face. Next take one of the braid to lift it up and over the crown of your head which will make the tip of the braid to reach the root of opposite braid. Secure the tip of your braid using a bobby pin. Again use this technique on the other braid and to make both the braids form a braided strand across crown of your head. Try to hide the bobby pins by pushing it under the braids and wear the rest of your hair loose.
