Use a towel around the nape, ears and hairline to prevent the color from falling on your skin. Add a dime-size amount of petroleum hair jelly over these areas that will be avoided during the coloring process. Then separate your hair into four sections starting from the nape to forehead and across from one ear to another. Use plastic clips to secure long hair away from the styling process. Wear a pair of hand gloves before mixing the hair color in a bowl and make sure to mix it using a brush. Spread the hair color on each section of the hair using the brush from roots to the end. Brush the hair with a wide-tooth comb to spread the color. Leave the hair for the recommended time in the coloring instructions and wash your hair with lukewarm water.
